We all have experiences in our lives that often times cause us to lose touch with our own identities and to somehow redefine ourselves in the process of getting it back. My artwork is a constant reflection of that idea. A piece of artwork with a strong presence often reveals more of itself over time than in a moments notice. That for me is what defines the chasm between fine art and illustration. By losing the object we gain the soul.
The more recent paintings (galleries1-4) are, for me, still a healthy departure from realism for the time being. These pieces have allowed me to delve into ways of thinking about painting and the images associated with it on a more spiritual and spontaneous level. They are part of an ongoing process of research, experimentation and ideological shifting. I hope that you enjoy looking at them as much as I've enjoyed making them.
